General Questions/New to Joomla! 5.x • Articles Missing in Backend After Update to Joomla 5.1

Hi everyone,

I am experiencing an issue with my Joomla site after updating to Joomla 5.1.0 on May 17. On this editorial site, authors publish articles directly from the frontend. Since the update, they have continued to publish articles without realizing there was an issue because the articles are visible to the public on the frontend. However, during a routine check this morning, I discovered that the backend article manager only displays articles up to May 17.

Symptoms:
  • Articles published after May 17 are visible and manageable on the frontend but do not appear in the backend article list.
Error Encountered: When attempting to modify an article from the frontend (e.g., suspending it), I receive the error message: "0 Call to a member function setFieldValue() on bool".
User Access: Logged in as a Super User (no permission issues).
Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
  • Checked Backend Filters: Ensured no filters are hiding the articles.
Cleared Cache: Cleared both frontend and backend cache.
Database Check: Repaired and optimized the database using DirectAdmin.
Updated Extensions: Ensured all extensions and plugins are up-to-date.
Despite these steps, the issue persists. Any guidance or suggestions to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
